Angshubha Banerjee is an eminent senior Tabla player of Calcutta. He is a performer, Teacher and Guest Lecturer of Rabindra Bharati university, Calcutta since 1994. He is an empanelled Tabla Artiste of Indian Council For Cultural Relation ( Ministry of External Affair, Government of India).
Angshubha starts playing and learning Tabla since his childhood. He has his early training in Tabla from Ustad Keramatullaha Khan, Pandit Gobindo Bose and finally from legendary maestro Tabla Guru Padmabhushan Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh for nearly fifteen years. Angshubha has also learnt Mridangam from Vidwan Shree S. Sekhar of Calcutta. Angshubha has the privilege to accompany a number of Great Indian Classical musicians like Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta, Pandit V. Balsara, Pandit Budhaditya Mukherjee, Ustad Iqbal Ahamed, Pandit Nayan Ghosh, Vidushi Purnima Chowdhuri, Vidhushi Shuvra Guha, Shree Parthosarathy, Shree Shashank Subramanyam (flute) to say a few names.
Angshubha has played with Shree S. Sekhar and Shree N. Shankar as Tabla- Mridangam duet for several times. Angshubha has been performing for the last forty years and has participated both as a Soloist as well as an Accompanist in many famous Music Concerts of the Country like Sangeet Natak Academy ( Bangalore), Kal- ke-Kalakar (Mumbai), Vishnu Digambar Jayanti Sangeet Samaroh (Delhi), State Music Academy (Government of West Bengal), Maihar Festival, Spic-Macay, Samrat Sangeet Sammelan (Goa), Prachin Kala Kendra(Chandigarh) and many others.
Angshubha is a graded Tabla Artiste of All India Radio and Television (Calcutta) and has been participating different programmes since a long including Radio Sangeet sammelan, 2025. Angshubha has been touring abroad since 1988. His first Europe tour was in 1988. Angshubha toured Australia in 2003 and U. S. A in 2013.
He tours Europe regularly to participate in concerts, Festivals and Tabla Workshops in France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Poland, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Bangladesh. In 1996 Angshubha toured Seol on behalf of I. C, C. R. In the year 2019, Angshubha performed in Indian Embassy, Berlin.
Angshubha worked in Bhavan, London as a Summer School Tabla Teacher in 2010, 2011, 2014.In 2024, Angshubha performed at TEATRO OLIMPICO, Vicenza, Italy, the first covered Theatre in Europe built in the 16th Century.Angshubha has the privilege to participate in the C.D project " SANKA RAGMALA" a production of Pandit Ravishankar where his students played his music. Angshubha has a number of CD's and records. Angshubha regularly gives online Tabla Class to his Students from Europe, South Africa and Bangladesh.
